Let us bring Geography to life! Geography is the study of the world, and despite our restrictions to travel, we have found ways to explore the world in wonderful and meaningful ways – by exploring outdoor parks and spaces and listening to stories as we make meaning of the curriculum to our lives. This course is designed for students to work at their own pace, with opportunities for virtual and optional excursions to local parks and green spaces, group collaboration and discussion as well as creativity and critical thinking. This course focuses on geographic issues that affect Canadians today. Students will explore the fundamental questions posed through geographic inquiry in order to develop a sense of place: What is where? Why there? Why care? This course will commit to acknowledging and respecting the relationship between First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples and the land.
