How It Works

About Experience School

For over a decade, the Experience School team of educators has been delivering our credit programs using a blended and experiential learning model. We are pleased to be able to stay true to our values and proud of the learning opportunities we are able to offer students.

Experience School (BSID#886085) has been authorized to grant Ontario Ministry of Education secondary school credits. Our courses are open to all Ontario high school students.

Upon completion of the course, a Ministry-approved report card will be sent to both the student’s home address, as well as to their home school for the credit and mark to be added to the student’s official transcript.

How It Works

Our courses are designed so that students are able to work through with a focus on making curriculum connections to the world around them and their identities and growth. There are  main components to a course. Each course is made up of:
  • Independent Online Learning delivered on our Brightspace platform – this can be completed on any device (though we recommend a laptop or chromebook) as long as students are able to access the internet).
  • Pre-trip Synchronous/Asynchronous learning (delivered through virtual classes to eliminate geographic barriers). During these sessions teachers provide instruction on curriculum content and build learning communities to encourage collaboration.
  • During the trip – this is where the majority of time is spent, during travel, where there is a focus on experiential learning and connecting the curriculum to the real world.
  • Post-trip Summatives/Reflection – where students have an opportunity to consolidate and demonstrate  their learning and growth with the guidance of their teacher and support of their TA.
After registering, students are connected with a teacher who is their learning partner. All teachers are Ontario certified teachers and subject experts in the courses they are instructing.  The teacher’s role will be to facilitate the learning through the differentiated instruction techniques, and is available to the student throughout the program. The same teacher will assess the student’s work and provide descriptive feedback in line with the Ontario Ministry of Education Growing Success expectations. Students are also connected with Teaching Assistants. TAs are Ontario certified teachers and are there to support students — particularly those with exceptionalities and help us to maintain a low teacher – student ratio. They allow students to have morea opportunities to receive individualized support.

Virtual Travel Credits

EduTravel was founded on the mission to Engage, Enrich and Inspire our student learners through travel. While travel isn’t currently possible, we are staying true to our mission by bringing the travel to our students, virtually. Through immersive themes and experiential learning, we are pleased to offer many of our signature courses now on our travel-themed, e-learning environment.

Our programs are different from other for-credit e-learning offerings because we base the content on real world applications. By emphasizing destinations from around the globe and introducing relevant real-life themes, the course content comes to life and provides a deeper context to the subject matter. The courses are designed to have as many immersive virtual experiences as possible to provide our students with a more fun, meaningful and impactful learning experience.

About Experience School

For over a decade, the EduTravel team of educators have been delivering our credit programs using a blended, experiential and online learning model. We are pleased to be able to stay true to our values, while adapting our signature programs to a new virtual offering.

Ministry of Education approved Credits will be offered through our accredited high school called Experience School, (BSID#886085). Our courses are open to all Ontario high school students.

Upon completion of the course, a Ministry-approved report card will be sent to both the student’s home address, as well as to their home school for the credit and mark to be added to the student’s official transcript.

How It Works

Our courses are designed so that students are able to work through the program at their own pace as permitted by their schedules.

With so much uncertainty in the coming school year, this allows for maximum flexibility for the student to reach ahead in a manageable way.

Upon enrolment, students will be assigned a teacher that will be their learning partner until the completion of the course. All teachers are Ontario certified teachers and will be subject experts in the specific course of study.

The teacher’s role will be to facilitate the virtual learning through the differentiated instruction techniques in the course, and be available to the student throughout the program. The same teacher will assess the student’s work and provide descriptive feedback in line with the Ontario Ministry of Education Growing Success expectations.

Enrolment is on a continuous intake basis and one of our amazing teachers is waiting to facilitate the course as your learning partner.
